    My first damascus

Nice knife. Its very sharp, flips out nicely, is perfectly centered and has no blade play, unlike the other reviewer said. I own over 15 Civivi's and wanted one damascus blade.

    Wanted to love it...

I REALLY wanted to love this knife. I had wanted the synergy 2 for a long time, but couldn't justify the price. When this got announced I instantly knew I'd be buying it as soon as it hit the shelves. Sure enough, less than 10 minutes after it became available online I pulled the trigger. First things first, the blade. The blade shape is absolutely killer and the damascus looks incredible. I wanted a tanto with a curved belly and a flat leading edge and this knife delivered with swagger. Unfortunately, that's about where the good things end. While the blade is sharp enough, it certainly doesn't feel as slicey as I'd expect for the thickness. Additionally, there is a small amount of play in the blade when it's deployed, wiggling ever so slightly side to side. And while the handle scales feel great in hand, I can already notice some wear on my pockets from the rather aggresive lines that are milled in for texture paired with the overly tight pocket clip. Another thing about the pocket clip is that it flexes side to side just enough that when you hold the knife firmly you can feel the clip move beneath your hand. Not a big deal, but it makes you think something is lose until you get used to it. The flipper tab is minimal, which I like, but it takes WAY too much effort to deploy. I expect with any new knife for there to be a bit of a break in period where things will become smoother with time and you'll learn the right method to get it to deploy easily and reliably everytime, but this thing is just as stiff as the day I got it, and I've been trying my best to break it in. It's so tight in fact that I'm questioning whether or not mine is just a bad example and I should send it back for a replacement. So while I wanted to fall head over heels in love with this knife, and admittedly from an aesthetic point of view I certainly am in love, functionally I'm quite let down. Maybe mine is just a lemon, but this certainly isn't what I expected.
