    Hoback Snecx Buster in black

Posted by Dennis Bullard on 4th Feb 2019

I bought the Hoback Snecx Buster in black. I was a little conflicted because I usually like 3.5 lightweight knives. I’d seen the two You Tube reviews that criticized it and one that liked it. I generally like and respect the opinions of the two reviewers that didn’t like it but I thought the criticisms were pretty esoteric especially when comparing the production model to a very high end rare custom knife. Kevin’s review in contrast was right on target about the important aspects of a knife like this. So I decided to buy the Hoback Snecx Buster in black from White Mountain Knives. It was a great decision on both counts. The knife is not for everyone but I love it. It feels so good in the hand and has an amazing action and detent. One of the reviewers was critical because it had bearings rather than washers and an adjustable detent? These are great things. I’m a flicker and this is one of the best flicking knives I own and compares well to the Koenigs and Shirogorovs I own. For a knife this size, it carries very well. It is milled to minimize the weight and it feels very comfortable in the pocket. The light weight also gives it an extra oomph when you flick it. The blade is a solid M390 4 inches and when it comes out it is very, very satisfying. Apparently, because of the blade size and shape, it can be used to chop coconuts. Not too many coconuts in this part of Tennessee but I believe it could. This will be my carry knife both when I go hiking but also pretty often on a daily basis. Few knives in my collection can fit both jobs well. I don’t usually write reviews but I felt because of the mixed You Tube info and especially because of the great service I got from White Mountain, that I should do so. I highly recommend this knife if you want a big, unique carry knife that is very well made out of superior materials. I also especially recommend White Mountain Knives. They have been a real pleasure to deal with. They know their products, provide very fair prices and stand behind their products.
