    vary nice small work knife
a non locking small blade so legal in many places.
with the 50/50 finger choil the lock is not missed.
washers in the pivot, nice wire pocket clip. flat G10 scales but chamfered and with good ergonomic design.

Byrd Tern - solid budget slippy

I quite enjoy this knife even though it definitely has some flaws. It's funny to me, but thinking about this review made me realize how much I grade Spyderco on a curve. For any other budget knife I'd be more critical, but the functionality of this knife doesn't go unnoticed.

Things I really like here: excellent grind, smooth deployment, incredible ergos, thin and slicey blade, easy one-hand manipulation, ambi pocket clip.

Things I don't enjoy: blade came slightly off-center, pocket clip grooves are shallower on the left side, causing the wire clip to be loose after installation, chicago screws/slip joint spring tension make removing and reinstalling pocket clip a real bear, fasteners come thread locked and risk of stripping them is high, fit and finish not on par with other budget brands in this price bracket.

Some of those concerns are especially nitpicky because most folks won't need to make their knives left pocket friendly, but it was quite an ordeal for me so I think other leftys might want to know. That being said the day after I got this I unexpectedly needed to open a lot of boxes and the Term was fantastic for this. Easy to use and close, lock up is great with a noticeable half stop, finger choil makes it's unlikely to accidentally close on a finger, blade came super sharp out of the box and 8cr is really easy to put a nice edge on once it dulls.

Overall, this knife is a great, if unflashy, user for those who need to occasionally open boxes, do detail work, or cut cases and don't need or want to carry something hard use, excessively large, or majorly expensive. It's a good example of function over form with some nods to higher quality pieces like the UKPK.
