I was lucky to grab one of these during a restock. They went fast. The online reviews were glowing and it was a rare appearance of Rex45 on a Kizer blade. It has lovely lines. There is a mature aesthetic that is fancy without being fantastical. Action, as others have noted, is smooth. The micarta is nice. The bolster's finish seems a little patchy, but it might be the oil.

Here is the real negative. The top edge of the micarta scales adjacent to the bolster is a crisp 90 degrees. If Rex45 is a hard-use steel, the design is inconsistent with that purpose. Here are my thoughts on what does appear to be a design flaw. Either you use the knife lightly to avoid that hot spot, or you use the heck out of it, get the blisters, and maybe the micarta will wear down at that edge. I kinda like the latter scenario. I think this is a knife that will look good with the wear. Like a favorite pair of jeans, worn through regular use, instead of being distressed at the sweat shop.

I think the rest of the design and fabrication makes the Mystic one that I can still recommend.

I recently bought one. This is a blow to the price with such steel. The mechanics are very smooth, the fit of all the parts is excellent. This is definitely a hit of the outgoing summer!

Nice good sized knife. Flipper and thumb studs work well. Great price for Rex 45.

I have carried this thing pretty much nonstop since I got it. It’s a great size and the micarta scales are weathering nicely. It’s very ergonomic and everyone that has seen it has asked about it.
