I've collected real samurai nihonto swords for 40 years and bought this one on a whim. First of all the weight and blade shape seem correct. The damascus has a few kizu flaws just like 90% of the real blades. The tsuba, fuchi and kashira look good, but are not iron. The menuki are ugly and bright so look really cheap. The tsuka is well wrapped. The pattern on the damascus is pretty but there is no hamon. The point is improperly polished so reflects light differently than the rest of the blade. It is somewhat sharp but does not cut paper well. The saya fits well, but graphic is mostly printed, not painted or lacquered. The printing is dot pattern and easily seen so looks very cheap and out of place. The sword bag is just OK. It comes with a booklet explaining how to handle and care for the sword. That information is accurate. A genuine nihonto katana in this condition would be thousand of dollars, so this is an interesting addition to my collection
