Civivi Chevalier Black G10 Handle Plain Edge Stonewash Finish

    Posted by Size16 on 9th Aug 2022

After looking at many reviews for both the Civivi Chevalier and Civivi Conspirator, I decided to get the Chevalier due to the sheepsfoot blade and the lighter weight. Great knife for EDC. My copy was a little stiff on the flipper so I took it apart with the goal of cleaning and oiling the bearings it with some Nano-oil. Civivi used a lot of lock-tight compound on the Torx screw on my copy and this made it really difficult to get the screw out of the pivot. The screw got stuck about 1/3 the way out of the pivot. Fortunately the pivot has two screw holes (one for the Torx screw and one for the "Civivi" screw). I kept turning the Torx side until the pivot released from the Civivi screw. Couldn't get the Torx screw out of the pivot after that! Cleaned and oiled the knife and put it back t ogether (again, with lots of effort to tighten the Torx screw side) but it came out well in the end. Love the "detent" on my copy. The flipper works works well and always opens up fully. The bearings make this knife very smooth to open and close. White Mountain had a great price on the knife and it's definietly one of my favorites in my collection. Only gripe I had was with the excess lock-tight, but other than that, I can definiitely recommend the knife to anyone considering it. Great button-lock knife.

Great design, not too great execution

Posted by Edc User on 4th Aug 2022

I think my early Civivis spoiled me when it comes to sharpness out of the box. The last two Civivis I purchased felt like they were barely sharp and lost that with one or two passes through breaking down cardboard. This is a solid design and a nice comfortable blade but the sharpening really bummed me out. With it being a flat grind and not a hollow grind, I feel that it’s pretty thick behind the edge. Also, the handle feels a little blocky in hand. Maybe I’m biased toward the button lock elementum, but that design is slim, great looking with its drop point blade, and a great deep hollow grind. I ordered some CBN stones for my Sharpmaker to try and put a respectable edge back on this chevalier so we shall see. Hoping that when it get real sharp it will be a go-to-edc blade. Disclaimer: this is one of the only places you should buy knives! WMK is truly the dealer to beat in price, service, and quality.

    My detent is great!

The detent on my model is excellent. I have no super weak detent or any such issue. Still like my two conspirators better but I just like the larger model. Excellent size for EDC carry, and I love my sheeptsfoot/wharnies
