First one i got had button issues. However the guy a wmk had me a new one in a few days and the replacement is amazing! Action is great and smooth like butter! For the price buy one! And get it from white mountain knives because the customer sevice is 5 stars and shipping speed is 5 stars!
All of the knife junkie youtube channels raved about this knife so I had to give it a go. I wanted a mid-size folder with a button lock that would be a lighter-carry EDC, and boy does this fit the bill. Action is smooth as butter and lockup is solid as a rock. Button lock has no stick at all. It almost feels too light with the G10 but it doesn't drag my pants down like my steel/aluminum scale knives. Jimping feels great and not too toothy. Choil is just the right size, although I probably won't choke up on a knife this small too often. Overall a fantastic EDC knife that does everything well. Very pleased with it.
Hands down the best budget button lock knife off 2022! I’ve bought several of this year’s budget button lock knives and this pyrite beats them all. Ergos, lockup, materials and fit and finish are amazing for this price point. The front finger Choil allows for adequate “choke up”. A feature not commonly found on other budget button lock knives. At least not done as good as it is on the Pyrite. Only thing is, I wish artisan cutlery (CJRB) would release a premium version of this knife. (Perhaps an even slightly larger one) get yourself a Pyrite
Definitely in the running for best budget folding knife of 2022. Definitely needs a premium version or at least a contoured handle version.
+ Action is amazing, after brief period of break-in very free flowing button lock action, easy to thumb or middle-finger flick open the blade. Thumbstuds are pointy but mostly comfortable and grip the pad of your fingers well.
+ Very lefty-friendly knife with reversible clip and plenty of access to thumbstud. May even be better for lefties (button actuation feels smoother to me).
+ Blade geometry is great, basic profile that is very versatile and relatively thin blade stock and high flat grind with a very thin edge. Not hard use for sure but if you need a knife to slice and cut this will be amply satisfying.
+ D-shaped pivot (different from prototypes) so easy to disassemble.
+ Great price. $50
= Blade steel is AR-RPM9 which is a proprietary particle metallurgy Artisan Cutlery steel rumored to be a PM version of 9Cr18MoV or 440C equivalent. Should perform slightly worse than CPM-154 but be tougher than standard ingot versions.
= Handle is pretty slim and flat scaled so should fit nicely in pocket. Closed profile is pretty good too. Personally, thicker contoured handles would have been nice, maybe with micro-milling for traction? Micarta? Titanium? Carbon fiber?
- Occasional lock stick. Mostly rare. After now maybe 100 openings hardly ever.
? Both the titanium clips from Artisan Cutlery and Civivi fit. I prefer the Civivi due to the shorter length and T-8 hardware but the Artisan Cutlery one may be more comfortable due to wider, rounder shape.
