    Really Surprising Buy

A small but effective Pikal "Elvia" style knife that is well made. The blade could have been sharper but is easily touched up with the edge of a triangle stone or round diamond file. lock up is tight and the blade flips out with a solid snap. Can be used for paring food or self defense.

    Shells on Scythe

A great knife with fast deployment & smooth return. You can even middle finger flick the blade for another deployment. My scales came scraped and pitted up, but it is mainly cosmetic damage. The knife works fine. It's great as a 3rd pocket carry.

    Expected better

Posted by Pooparat Plodpradista on 12th Nov 2023

    Pro:
-The blade geometry is excellent for precision cutting on a thin material (ie. leather).
-Ball bearing, the blade drop shut
-Strong detent, the blade flip out with force

    Con:
-Cheap micarta, very soft and mushy
-The box said made in China while web description said made in USA.
-Will be very hard to resharp using flat stones.

    It could have been better

I was really excited for this one, and really wanted to love it. First off, it's small, but still fits all 4 fingers. It looks nice with the sculpted micarta and backspacer. I felt the backspacer should have been a touch shorter, my finger would hit the geared spacer when using the flipper. The biggest issue I had with this knife was the sharpness from the factory. My knife was not really sharp at all, and the edge felt like it had burrs that didn't get worked out. Normally that's not too big of an issue, but between how small the blade is and that wicked sickle shape, this little guy would be a pain to sharpen. I decided to return mine, I may take another look when the XL version drops in the future. It's unusual and unique which grabbed my attention.
