I had the black aluminum scale Drop Bear first and to be honest it was not a favorite, it got carried a few times then got put away. Kizer stepped it up with this FatCarbon and Elmax steel blade. I mean it is still a Drop Bear but so much better. this Drop Bear has been in the pocket or on the table next to me since I got it one week ago. I also changed out the Omega springs for the bigger set and now it is perfect for me. Highly recommend this Drop Bear.
I knew I wanted an Axis lock style knife and I knew I wanted a knife with Artic Storm Fatcarbon scales. So this was a no brainer for me and I'm very, very glad I did it. I'm obviously new to knives, so I can only tell ya so much. The blade is centered, action is like glass, fit an finish top notch. It slices through thin paper despite it's slightly larger blade stock (compared to my other Kizers with thinner blade stock). It's at least as sharp was most of my Spyderco knives.
Only 2 things worth mentioning...
1) Elmax blade costs more than the 20CV blade version with a black stonewashed blade. I think most people would prefer the 20CV. Luckily I didn't have an Elmax blade so I was happy to pick one up
2) No threadlocker on the pivot, so they backed out a tad after flicking the knife for a few days. But that was an easy fix.
This knife is amazing, fit and finish is flawless. It’s a fidget knife for sure, I have the original drop bear and it’s one of my favorites. This one is 10x that. So happy for the upgrade to elmax
