As a huge fan of James Williams designs I am very pleased with this knife. I saw a few online reviews that were a bit meh. I’m glad I ignored them! Shaving sharp, great symmetrical grinds, good feel in the hand. The balance point is about where the first X shape is on the scales. It feels heavy in the hand yet nimble. The blade coating has a light texture to it. The sheath has good retention at an appropriate amount of retention, no rattle. The clip works as intended with the cloth grabber functioning perfectly. I have a 4” Williams model and this is a much more affordable older brother. The grip has excellent purchase and isn’t going anywhere in a closed grip. It does feel rough against the skin carrying IWB, as it should by design. I have not tested the best treat durability. If you’ve followed James Williams’s production blade philosophy, you know these are made for flesh and don’t require a super steel to accomplish the mission. The HZM is a brilliant combative s tool. And it’s made in Taiwan, not China as several online review videos claim.
