This is not the Demko AD20. Good. It gives me something to hope for and likely another purchase of a Demko knife to plan. This smaller version was my first, and I probably should have waited for a full-size Demko.
Positives: 1. Solid lock. 2. Comfortable ergonomics for the ungloved hand. 3. Very sharp blade that will likely hold its edge.
Negatives: 1. Feels a little cheap. There is a chalky feel in the scales and the movement feels similarly chalky. My old Benchmade Osborne had that feel but it broke in nicely. If there is a break-in period with the Shark Cub, it is taking a while. 2. The lock tab/lever needs a slender finger with hard callouses. This is to say that, in this smaller model, the tab is also diminutive and it takes a bit of pressure to pull it. I tried different grips to find a comfortable way to disengage the lock and I managed to draw blood from my pinky just from the fall of the blade into the scales. Again, this blade is sharp.
The Shark Cub is something to consider if you already have Demko knives and like the lock and design language. If you are new to Demko, you should probable go with the regular-sized models when they become available.
Fantastic blade shape, decent action(standard shark lock light detent), handle shape is comfortable in hand, perfect size overall, bit of lock stick/disengagement issues(normal for shark lock in my experience). But the coating on the handle is nails on a chalk board, one of the worst feelings imaginable, I cannot fathom why anyone would want this coating on something they touch regularly. Aftermarket scales can't come fast enough...
