I really like this little cutter, my first Hogue, but there are some issues. The action is so so. It's a button lock, not like others, the button only releases the blade when it's out. You can't press the button and flip the blade out, it's only a lock. The somewhat large flipper tab is the only why the knife opens. The pivot is not on bearings or washers and not as smooth. To open, you need a firm push button on the flipper, to close, push the button lock and shake a tiny bit, the blade closes most of the way, then you need to 'click' it in. Different from any other knife I have but, I'm getting use to it. Beyond that, the handle is hard anodized aluminum, another first for me. It's dark earth brown, darker than the photos here at WMKs. It's a very nice looking knife with a warny blade that cuts very very good. And, Hogue polishes the edge to a fine sharpness. They also use T-8 hardware, nice! It's a small knife but I can get a four finger grip with my medium, small hands. Fit and finish are excellent and a nice long run of larger jimping for your thumb and toward the back helps with griping and cutting. I have been using this for several weeks at work doing the common things like opening packages, dispatching cardboard boxes. It performs very well and is still sharp as new. I did drop it on a stone floor and it left a small dent in the aluminum handle. Not as hard as Titanium? I'm not really sure. The dent is very small. I still really like it, I guess because it is different but still good. And American made. I feel good about that. I have since purchased an EX-01 aluminum review to come.
