    potential for greatness

Kizer almost hit it out of the park with the Drop Bear. The lines are conservative and utilitarian. Black-on-black is not everyone's cup of tea, but it is mine. I even like the purple thumb stud. The movement is the winner here. There's a slight variation in the tension/pull along the path. It feels unique among the other knives that I have, which have consistent resistance.

My nitpick is the black coating on the blade. The paint could have been mixed better. Once I wiped down the oil, I could see a spray pattern and variations in the coverage. It even had a pinhole spot where a paint particle that did not full dissolve flaked off when the paint dried. I do not fault them too much for the lapse. They were making a lot of these to match the interest in the community. I wanted very much to buy another one, thinking that the second one would be properly coated. I purchased the uncoated grey Drop Bear instead.

The movement and lock deserves the praise they have been getting online. It is a great start to a new lock for Kizer. That alone is an in-field triple. Get it on your notification list. WMK is really good at restocking items that people like.

    Almost perfect...

Absolutely great knife, and access to and adjusting the clutch lock is super easy. My only complaint (and I don't know if they're all like this out of the factory), the default setting on my clutch lock was at the "tightest," and I considered it kind of loose (I could basically flick it open with just wrist/gravity action). Otherwise, fit and finish was really good. Perfectly centered, no marks or uneven bevels, etc. I just wish I could make the clutch lock tighter than it's tightest setting (maybe I'll try the other set of springs).
