QSP Penguin Liner Lock Knife Jean Handle

This knife really surprised me. It's been on the back burner for a while but I finally said when White Mountain gets it back in stock I'll pull the trigger. I'm sure glad I did. Beautiful knife with smooth action an great looking micarta.

    QSP Penguin

For the cost, this folder is an absolute “gem”! Action, ergonomics, blade centering and grind are worthy of much more expensive knives. Although I’ve never been a fan of the Wharncliff blade shape, I have to admit that I’m finding it extremely useful!

Penquin - Very Good Pocket Knife

Comfortable Jean Micarta Handle. Smooth opening with thumb stud. Sharp out of the box, plus easy to keep sharp. Deep carry sturdy pocket clip. I like it and carry it alot.

    The Penguin Has Landed

First, kudos to WMK for their incredibly quick ship time: the knife arrived a full two days before its estimated date. Impressive! The knife is my first from QSP and I have to say I'm impressed. Fit/finish is very good. The blade is centered and very sharp. Edge bevel is even on both sides. Jimping is functional without being too aggressive/sharp. The micarta handles look like your favorite pair of faded jeans and have a luxurious feel in hand. I love the handles! Opening action was the tiniest bit stiff (it is a new knife, after all), so I added half a drop of KPL to each washers and now it's perfect. Access to the nicely jimped lockbar is easy and comfortable so you don't tear up your thumb closing the blade. This knife has serious fidget factor. The polished, deep carry clip means this knife will disappear in your pocket. The blade is stout but not overly thick; I'm not a fan of really thick blades, this one is just right. The thumbstud ridges are a tiny bit sharp but they will smooth out over time. The pivot screw is plain and is the only thing I'd change. A knife this nice deserves a more distinctive pivot. That's not a complaint, just an observation. A nice touch not seen on many knives: the holes for the reversible pocket clip have screws in them so no ugly, empty screw holes on the show side. Detent is perfect: the blade shoots out yet I can't flip it open. All in all, I highly recommend this knife. It is a great value, especially for the price.
