This is a great budget knife for the money

Got this knife earlier in March 2020. They can't keep it in stock... for good reason. Fantastic knife for under $30. Great blade steel. Good grind. Great action. Perfect for opening and breaking down cardboard boxes. Perfect pocket clip design IMO. Only a few negatives. The thumbstud is a touch sharp. Fixed it with a bit of sanding. The bluejean micarta is very smooth and therefore slick. That was a bummer for me. I was looking forward to it having the same texture as a pair of jeans. Perhaps it will wear in eventually. For the price, tough to complain.

When I saw this piece on Drop, I was hopeful it would be cool but my expectations, especially at this price point, were far exceeded. The QSP Penguin came super sharp, the denim micarta is really smooth, blade shape is compelling, and the flipping action I found to be very solid. I’m a new collector, and am still developing taste and appreciation for truly good builds, but from the experience I do have with my small collection, this surprise budget folder is right up there with the Civivi Elementum and Massdrop Gent. And I never complain about D2. Highly recommend. The Penguin did take a while to get to me. Drop communicated the delay and provided the opportunity to cancel my order, and I was a little annoyed. But I forgot about all that as soon as I flicked it once. I’m a QSP fan now.
