    Excellent working blade

Posted by Chas Metivier on 12th Jun 2022

As others have noted, this Terra is an excellent working knife. A bit large at nearly 8.5 inches, it has a cutting edge of 3.6. The leaf like shaped blade, full flat ground and perfectly positioned deployment hole, are very familiar, just say Spyderco. Buy hey, it's a combo well proven that works and makes this folder a great cutter. Jimping for the thumb is in the right spot and the rest of the spine is rounded off. Very nice touch. In fact, there are no sharp edges anywhere. Very nice fit and finish at this price point. The washers or the only weak spot, that's why the 4, bearings would have been nice. The clip is excellent and I'm surprised other makers don't use wire clips more. Of course, another spydi similarity. It works well and is comfortable in either hand and reversable. I really like the large pivots and fasteners, something different that would be difficult to strip. I also purchased the shade at the same time and really like it as well, although no bearings there either. I wrote a separate review. Both are excellent 'value' folders. Would buy again. And thanks to WMKs for all the excellent service.

    Real Steel Terra

Excellent working knife. Great ergonomics for sabre grip. 14C28N is my favorite working knife steel as it is easily sharpened and holds its edge well. The full flat ground blade with a good sharpening choil is excellent for slicing and easy sharpening . The knife can be easily field stripped with common tools, a flat blade screw driver and an Allen key, and it runs on stacked bronze and teflon washers, so it needs little maintenance. The deployment is smooth, but is not fidget friendly. I use a slow roll for one hand opening, but normally deploy it with two hands. For my needs, an excellent knife!

    Awesome and flawed...

Visually, this knife is great: relatively thick and beefy at the spine, but a full flat grind that tapers down cleanly to a thin and slicey edge. with nothing at all in the cutting path of this almost leaf shape blade, it's great for most tasks. It's light for its size, and handle is really comfy.
The downside: this thing runs on Teflon washers which makes it a decent slow roll open, but makes it suck at opening quickly unless you are putting a lot of wish into flashing it open (or just have A REALLY strong finger flick). Every time I want to deploy it, I have to throw it like I'm flashing it out for a duel, or it doesn't fully open. Closing is smooth but also stiff, and even after taking it apart and cleaning, it will never be a drop it shake shut knife.
