The reviews for this knife is bonkers. All the usual reviewers seem to love it. I wonder if I missed the critical reviews hidden somewhere. I have the Bexar and the Rockwall, and I love those knives. This one falls short. It looks stamped out without much care in the finished product.

Knives always look bigger in the videos. One reviewer did a helpful thing: he put it next to the Rockwall. The Dreadeye is smaller than the Rockwall. This time, I was prepared to see a smaller knife out of the box.

Out of the box and in the hand for the first time, it is just bleh. I wanted the shimmer of the Elmax in all its glory. Instead, there were edges that did not seem to come together perfectly and cutting edge was simply dull. I wonder if the edge was finished to be toothy, but it snagged on paper. I could see the inconsistent edge with my naked eye. I did not have the same experience with my Bexar or Rockwall, which came out of the box with an even, sticky edge.

One sign that may indicate Tactile is not showing this knife the love and care it does to the other knives is that it does not come with the card with the features of the knife. It just comes wrapped in paper nested in a crinkly nest of cardboard strips.

Maybe there is some quality or feature that will emerge over use and over time that will win me over. I hope that will happen. Otherwise it is another fixed blade that will get handed down as gifts to family members. Get yourself a Rockwall or Bexar. WMK keeps a few, like the new special edition ones, in stock.
