Twosun TS301 Lockdown in D2 is an incredible design by the talented Mr. Mazwan Mohktar. For the price and overall build quality, this knife is exceptional and unbeatable. The fit and finish, materials used, and machining are all excellent. This knife has a custom feel to it and it's great to see (or not see) that they put the branding and billboarding on the inside of the handle scale instead of on the blade. It gives the blade a much cleaner look, again, like a custom knife and is much nicer overall aesthetically. It's also great to see Twosun's micarta is getting much better. This micarta has a nice soft feel to it and fits seamless up against the carbon fiber bolsters. The carbon fiber and micarta are inlayed and they sit a little proud of the titanium. They are also rounded and contoured which is done really well and looks good while giving the handle that nice full feeling in the hand. Plus the ergos are perfect, so the rounded handles make this knife feel even more comfortable in the hand. Along with that perfectly curved thumb ramp and grippy jimping, this knife locks up solidly in the hand. The milled pocket clip works well and looks good in my opinion. It's a simple looking clip, but fits well with the look of the knife. The geared style backspacer looks great and can help provide some traction for other grip styles. The large thumb studs work great and look good too. Doesn't hurt the fingers/thumb at all, especially since the detent is dialed in perfectly. All the edges were tumbled to knock down any sharpness. I also haven't had any problems with them snagging on my pants despite their size.
I'm glad they made the relief cut for the lockbar internally. It gives the knife a much cleaner look despite being necessary for this design regardless. I feel that they could have done without that little cutout on the carbon fiber for the lockbar screws. They could have screwed them in through the inside of the handle so that they would be flush and not need that cutout, but it doesn't bother me and it looks kind of interesting too. The only concern is the carbon fiber being thin in that area by the lockbar. Speaking of the lockbar, I would have liked more relief for access, but it's not difficult to close. It's just a little weird when you first get the knife and go to close it since the amount of lockbar you have for your thumb is not much because of the finger grooves bump, so you feel like you're going to miss it at first. You get use to it tho. The action of the knife is amazing. Crisp detent, detent ramp, ceramic bearings and detent ball, bearings tracks, and large blade with perfect thumb studs makes this knife's action work beautifully. It fires out rock solidly and upon closing, it hits the detent ball super early and drop shuts effortlessly, but they left plenty of tang, so that it hits your thumb first instead of the blade coming down and guillotining you. Very well executed.
The knife came perfectly out of the box. I didn't even need to disassemble, clean, and tune the knife to my preference like I usually do to every new knife I get. This one was good to go. Perfectly centered, bank vault lockup at about 40%, no play or anything. Absolutely amazing job by Mazwan and Twosun on the TS301 Lockdown. I would love to see them make this in a super steel. Maybe S90V with a good heat treat. That would be awesome. Great knife though, definitely recommend without question and always from WMK. You guys provide the most exceptional customer service as well. Thanks guys.
