The Cold Steel 4-Max Scout is a beast of a knife with thick blade stock and the famous Tri-Ad lock, but without the high cost of the first 4-Max models. If you like a big hard use knife without the cost of a custom, this is the knife for you. Well made, blade centered, with smooth action for a lock back. Even the Grivory is textured for a firm grip. I'm sure some enterprising soul will be offering aftermarket grips for those who want to mod their Scout soon. If you have a little play money and like big folders, this is one I highly recommend. This Cold Steel 4 Max Scout landed-today, and it was all that I imagined it would-be. Item came well-packaged, and arrived with no glitches. As with all Cold Steel blades; this AUS-10 steel came razor-sharp from the factory. Blade was centered, lock-up was tight; via the Demko 'tri-ad' system. The aggressive 'gri-vex' scales give one a good-purchase on the knife. I easily switched the pocket-clip around for left-handed, carry orientation. Longer screws are dedicated to the pocket-clip. This is probably one of the best-blades-for-the-buck out there! You can feel-confident, that this behemoth will handle any cutting task. I own an original Italian-version of this knife. The Scout is just as tough as it's progenitor. I would advise anyone on-the-fence, to add-one immediately to their knife-stable. This one can definitely: cut it!! White Mountain is a nice company to do business with, and I will use them again for my next knife purchase.

My sixth Cold Steel knife, this thing has the comparative heft of a hammer and inspires the same sense of indestructibility. Kind of a one-size-fits-all solution for working around the ranch, the farm, the home, all in a package that can be neatly folded up and stuffed inside a pocket. Edge holding is an improvement over the AUS-8 I’ve used in previous knives, and it gets push-cut sharp with ease. I appreciate the tip’s pointy utility, sturdiness, and the drop-shut ease of this iteration of the Triad lock. All grinds and workmanship are excellent. Shipping was decently prompt and White Mountain Knives’ price was the best I found at time of purchase. Huzzahs to all! If you’re looking for the most robust knife in the hundred dollar range, I can’t imagine a better value.
