one of my all-around, all-time favorites

Posted by Unknown on 14th Oct 2023

I have a few Para 3 Lightweights, and I thought they suited me so well that I did not need to get the regular Para 3. I got this Para 3 in S45vn and realized I was wrong. The regular Para 3 has its own strong merits.

It is heavier, of course, than the Lightweight, but not by much. It actually lends to a more substantial feel in the hand. I prefer the solid clip, as opposed to the wire clip on the Lightweight. The wire clip will jiggle in the grip and requires securing between uses.

The blade size and shape, shared with the Lightweight, is perfect for me. Just enough length to make work easy and not to long so that it catches attention out in public.

The ergonomics are excellent. It practically becomes part of your fist. Spyderco has always put a premium on useability, and it shows here. I have not had to test the blade on any hard-use tasks yet, but the word in the YouTube tester world is that the heat-treat is excellent, with some only saying that they resharpened their blades for better cutting. For my uses, this blade does fine work.

This is a great work knife, and the blacked-out look is both serious and cool. Get one on your email notifications.

    Para 3

Posted by Dave H on 20th Aug 2021

A lot of people love Spydercos and a lot of people hate 'em.
I was on the fence and finally got around to picking one up.
I could go into fit and finish, centering, sharpness, grip, etc...
But I'm not going to, because everyone does that.
What I'm going to say, is this knife has made me angry.
It has made me angry, because it has totally ruined the allure of all of my other knives.
    I cannot put it down.
It is a vile demon that has possessed my soul.
    I absolutely love it.
The only bad things I can really say about it, is it was pretty stiff out of the box and the centering was off just a tiny bit.
It's loosening up nicely and maybe I'll get around to centering it one of these days.
Or just not look at it.

    Great knife

Bought this as my first Spyderco blade and I couldn't be happier. Great finish on the blade, its dead center and shaving sharp right out of the box. SUPER smooth action and a great drop close knife. Now if this just came with a deep carry clip by default it would be perfect in my opinion.
