This is a very interesting knife. Best described as a locking slip joint. Two handed opening and closing required but once locked, I believe the blade will break before the lock fails. A nail nick would have been appropriate for opening but grabbing the top of the blade works just fine. Blade is D2 and very thin behind the edge. Great cutter. Not a quick deploying knife but this is built for work, not self defense or combat. If you like the Cold
Steel Pocket Bushman or the Buck 110 you should love the TS289.
